Adam Carpinelli a multifaceted artist, producer, community organizer and multi-instrumentalist. His studies of world music started with Ghanaian drumming; having performed, and recorded for Obo Addy, the late Master Drummer. He describes his main artistic influences as his father who is a painter. Carpinelli also has been influenced by working with Afro Cuban and Senegalese artists. Originally Adam was born in New York then later moved to northern Virginia where he lived most of his younger years before moving to Portland, Oregon where he has lived for over twenty years. Adam finds the language of music not only as self expression but a vessel to communicate social change.
Being an artist who addresses social issues and contributing to make the world a better place is the driving force that ignites Adam’s heart. Adam currently performs with his progressive jazz project Shvvvr, World Beat Band Wamba and works with Senegalese Master Drummer Massamba Diop from Baaba Maal’s band and The Black Panther soundtrack.
