Born in Mexico City, Carlos Arturo Tejeda is a visual artist, archery coach, cornet player and avid fisherman. He is currently on process to obtain the degree of Doctor of Arts and Design, at the Faculty of Arts and Design of UNAM. With extensive experience in teaching, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, in Mexico and abroad, showing his artwork, usually in the area of graphics.
to feel the icy air on my face and hopelessly wet feet! As never before, my plastic work tries to approach the lost experience, and in the midst of desire and fantasy, my line stretches from my rod on the surface tension of my own imagination. Austerity sustains a practical spirit and determined to elegant self-sufficiency. You will notice that this volume is completely handmade; every page was cut by hand and an important part of the material is recycled. The prints have been made in my small home workshop and bound in a stationery store. I have decided to use the cardboard as support, emulating the colorful pamphlets of some popular heritage: challenges and contingencies of other times in which
perhaps frugality and temperance were also as important as action and strategy. Art finds one ofits most intense creative dynamics in solving the most mundane problems; at the same time, the most prosaic considerations provoked the deepest reflections. Asceticism is an aesthetic
category. This, then, is an exercise in captive emancipation. It is a compendium of animistic attributes, a mythology of my own intimacy. I leave in your hands the map of the experience closest to reality and, in a most fortunate case, the opportunity to overcome the real experience with the object that refers to it. The dream of containing the uncontainable… and contain it all inside a book.

Nacido en la Ciudad de México, Carlos Arturo Tejeda es artista visual, entrenador de tiro con arco, trompetista amateur y ávido pescador. Actualmente se encuentra en proceso de obtención del título de Doctor en Artes y Diseño, en la Facultad de Artes y Diseño de la UNAM. Con amplia experiencia en la docencia, ha participado en numerosas exposiciones individuales y colectivas en México y en el extranjero, generalmente en el área de gráfica.

El encierro puede ser liberador. Esta paradoja ciertamente se ha abierto como una ventana y me ha ofrecido una oportunidad. Un espacio creativo se ha generado necesariamente en torno al aislamiento y la cautela, y este cuadernillo de grabados es producto de ello. Afectada la dimensión presencial de nuestra mismísima existencia, evoco con nostalgia las vivencias del pasado reciente. Como ninguna otra cosa, extraño ir de pesca. ¡Qué bendición sería poder sentir el aire helado sobre el rostro y los pies irremediablemente mojados! Como nunca, mi trabajo plástico pretende acercarse a la experiencia perdida, y en medio del deseo y la fantasía, mi línea se tiende desde mi caña sobre la tensión superficial de mi propia imaginación. La austeridad sostiene un espíritu práctico y resuelto a la elegante suficiencia. Notará usted que este volumen está completamente hecho a mano; las hojas están cortadas con los dedos y una parte importante del material es reciclado. Se han hecho las impresiones en mi pequeño taller doméstico y el encuadernado en una papelería. He decidido utilizar el cartoncillo como soporte emulando los panfletos coloridos de alguna herencia popular: desafíos y contingencias de otros tiempos en los que quizá también la frugalidad y la templanza fueron tan importantes como la acción y la estrategia. El arte encuentra una de sus dinámicas creativas más intensas en la solución de los problemas más mundanos; al mismo tiempo, las consideraciones más prosaicas provocaron las reflexiones más profundas. El ascetismo es una categoría estética. Este es pues, un ejercicio de emancipación cautiva. Es un compendio de atributos animistas, una mitología de mi propia intimidad. Dejo en sus manos el mapa de la experiencia más cercana a la realidad y, en un caso afortunado, la oportunidad de superar la vivencia real con el objeto que la refiere. El sueño de contener lo incontenible… y contenerlo en un libro.
