HARPeoke is a fundraiser for The Homeless Harpist, Denise Martin. Her OPED in the Oregonian July 4th changed the conversation in PDX about homelessness. Denise and her son are still homeless, winter is coming, and they have medical, dental and vision challenges, need car repair, and a new set of strings is critical for harp, Raven.
Denise is and has been a street musician in Portland and Las Vegas the past 7 years, returning to Portland homeless in March of 2020 when Las Vegas closed in a minute due to covid. Denise has a keen perspective on homelessness. See and hear her OPED in this Youtube photo diary.
Sing with a Harp events
Come sip and sing to the classics. There will be a short tutorial on how to sing with a harp and then we are just gonna work it out together. We will have individual singers, duets, some group sings and Denise has a little musical comedy to share. Let’s do this!!!!!
