Expressions of Insecurity

Koi is an artist of Latino/Polynesian descent based in Portland, Oregon. Since she was a child she has loved working with her hands. Her work is inspired by Low Rider Culture. After falling in love with the Northwest, Koi and her family moved from California to Oregon. In her artistic endeavors, she began to play with installations in her courtyard which grow year after year. Every Halloween and Day of the Dead, Koi and her family create a beautiful setting of sculptures and lights for the delight of their Mount Tabor neighborhood. Her installations have been published in the Oregonian as well as on local television channels. In addition to being a traditional destination for schools such as Sunnyside Environmental School among others. Her ofrenda has been included as part of the 2023 and 2024 rout of Day of the Dead Celebration of Life festival. To see more images of her work you can visit her profile on Instagram. @koi Kustoms

koi es una artista de descendencia latina/Polinesia con base en Portland Oregon. Desde pequeña le encanta trabajar con sus manos. Su trabajo se inspira en Low Rider Culture. Después de enamorarse del Noroeste Koi y su familia se mudaron de California a Oregon. En su inquietud artística comenzó a jugar con instalaciones en su patio las cuales crecen ano con ano. Cada Halloween y día de muertos, Koi y su familia crean una hermosa ambientación de esculturas y luces para el deleite de su vecindario en Mount Tabor. Sus instalaciones han sido publicadas en el Oregonian así como en canales locales de television. Ademas de ser un destino ya tradicional de escuelas como Sunnyside Environmental School entre otras.
