Jorge Luis Porrata nació y creció en Camagüey, Cuba. Poeta y artista visual. En 2001 llega a vivir al suroeste de los Estados Unidos donde permanece por siete anos. en su trayectoria Jorge a ilustrado seis libros para la editorial Cubana/americana House Homago con base en Miami, Florida.
Como instructor a ensenado cursos en diferentes universidades por mas de diez anos en diferentes estados. “What the animals had to say” fue su primer libro publicado. Este pertenece a una serie de fabulas sobre animales en desarrollo. Su poesia se a publicado en revistas literarias en Mexico, Cuba, y el sur oeste de los Estados Unidos.
Jorge Porrata
Jorge Luis Porrata (1975) was born and grew up in Camagüey, Cuba. He is poet and an artist. In 2001 he emigrated to the USA and lived for 7 years in the Southwest. He has illustrated six books for the Cuban/Cuban American publishing house Homago, based in Miami. He taught art courses in different universities for 10 years across three states. “What the Animals Had to Say” is his first book published and is part of a series of animal fables in development. He has published poetry in literary magazines in Mexico, Cuba, and the Southwest USA.
His artwork explores the interconnectedness between diverse themes, like text and image, cultural backgrounds, spiritual believes, and crosses disciplines, including writing, printmaking, drawing, animation, and performance art.
